4. ARCS AND CIRCLES

The Sewing Revolution® will help find the central pivot point when sewing an arc or circle around a particular design (i.e. embroidery, lace motif or applique) using The Circular Sewing Attachment for the sewing machines. Most sewing machine companies have The Circular Sewing Attachment as an optional extra. If you are unable to obtain a Circular Sewing Attachment, you may purchase one through this web site.

Steps
  1. Choose exactly where the arc or circle of sewing is to start and finish. (e.g. from X to Y)
  2. Place The Sewing Revolution® on the design and move until the desired arc or circle touches point X and Y.

    Diagram 3

  3. Mark the center point of The Sewing Revolution® (c) This becomes the pivot point for The Circular Sewing Attachment.

4. EMBROIDERY POSITIONING

The Sewing Revolution® can be used to position machine embroidery within many shapes including circles, pentagons, heptagons etc.

Steps for 7 Embroideries
  1. Place The Sewing Revolution® over the embroidery design template and move until the two blue lines marked E1 and E2 touch each side of the design. (Use the E1 and E2 line as the reposition mark (B) is the centre of the design). See Diagram 1.
  2. Take note of the measurement on The Sewing Revolution® at the middle point of the design template. (M).

    Diagram 4

  3. Once this is established place The Sewing Revolution® on the fabric and mark a dot at this measurement on the blue lines and also 1" below point M and 1" above.
  4. So on each 60° (blue line) there are 3 dots 1 inch apart. Position the centre of the embroidery on the central dot.
To stitch 8 embroideries in a circle repeat above steps using the yellow lines (D1 & D2) instead of the blue lines.

    (Click for Positioning tutorial)

5. REPOSITIONING

The repositioning dots (B) enable the division of the circle into 10 or 14 equal segments.

To Divide into 10 Sections
  1. Mark the center point and each yellow line on the same size circle.
  2. Mark the yellow reposition dot (B).
  3. Place pencil or pen in centre hole (C).
  4. Rotate The Sewing Revolution® around so the holes on D2 correspond with the dots made on the reposition holes.
  5. Remark each yellow line.
The circle is now divided into 10 equal segments.
To divide circle into 14 equal sections repeat above 5 steps using the blue lines instead on the yellow lines.
